Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) Chief Executive, Dr Jon Lamonte, has been appointed as the new President of European Metropolitan Transport Authorities (EMTA).

Jon replaces Wolfgang Schroll, who is current joint CEO of Vienna-based transport authority Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR). The appointment was confirmed at the EMTA conference, which was held over a three-day period in Manchester.

A non-profit seeking association, the EMTA brings together 26 metropolitan transport authorities from across the continent to share best practice, information, research and experience among members.

Speaking at the event, Dr Jon Lamonte said: “I am delighted to have been named as President of this prestigious organisation, which carries within it a phenomenal amount of expertise and experience in the transport sector.”
