A thatched bus shelter in Osmington, Dorset has recently gained listed status. The shelter is a memorial for David Parry Jones, who was a Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion of The Rifle Bridage who died on 3 August 1944. Historic England, which listed it a Grade II, said to the Telegraph: “Despite its vulnerability as a piece of street furniture, the bus shelter has not been significantly altered since it was first built.”
The inscription reads: ‘In memory of/ David Parry-Jones Lt/,/1st Bn. The Rifle Brigade/Killed in action/in France/3rd August 1944.’
