NETHERLANDS
Following the award of a contract to Daimler Buses, operator HTM expects to be the first public transport operator in the Netherlands to convert its entire fleet to locally emission-free and CO2-neutral electric buses with the delivery of at least 95 fully electric eCitaro single-deck and eCitaro G articulated buses as well as the associated infrastructure by 2024.
HTM operates bus, tram and light rail services in and around The Hague, the third largest city in the Netherlands. Its new fleet of Mercedes-Benz low-floor electric buses in lengths of 12 and 18 metres will be equipped with the latest NMC 3 battery technology, and will replace existing natural gas buses. Although Europe-wide regulations mean that only zero-emission buses will be permitted from 2030, the Netherlands has chosen to apply this from 2025.
