Go North East Managing Director Martijn Gilbert and the rest of the senior leadership team provide an update on the direction of the business to James Day
When CBW arrived at the Go North East (GNE) head office – a humble building hidden away inside a housing estate built on the grounds of what used to be a bus depot – the company’s entire leadership team was present to greet us.
While GNE’s Managing Director, Martijn Gilbert, is quite new to the business having joined 15 months ago, the length of service from much of the leadership team is striking. Commercial Director Stephen King has been with the operator for 25 years. Shirley Connell, Head of Operations, has served just under 28 years after joining the company as a minibus driver in 1992. Gary Edmundson, Operations Director, also started his career with GNE as a minibus driver back in 1988. Janice Pyle, Financial Controller, has built up 14 years of service, while Stephanie Young, Compliance and Risks Manager, has worked for the company for just under 20 years.
