Delaine Buses’ last Leyland joined four others in Lincolnshire operator’s own heritage museum as Nick Larkin reports
A 1987 Leyland Tiger with several claims to history is one of five buses preserved by Delaine Buses of Bourne as part of a new museum devoted to the operator.
The vehicle, E100AFW, carries the last Duple service bus body to be produced and was new as the 100th vehicle in the Delaine fleet. It was also the last Leyland used in service by Delaine after 78 years of operating examples of the marque.
After 21 years in the fleet it passed to a preservationist collector, who carefully stored it undercover and offered the vehicle back to Delaine when he decided to reduce his collection.
