Timberbush Tours of Edinburgh – celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2018 – announced a £1.2m investment into nine new coaches on Monday.

The fleet, which now grows to 23, will be used to transport tourists to destinations across the highlands and islands of Scotland and the North of England, as well as for private tours and corporate hire.

Five vehicles (MAN 30-seaters and Mercedes-Benz Sprinters) have been removed from the fleet – all registered in 2015 – in line with Timberbush’s policy of replacing vehicles every three years.

According to Steve Spalding, CEO of Timberbush Tours: “The fleet is expanding partly in response to the growth of international tourism and overall demand – aided by a weaker pound – but also to support our expanding tour propositions including Outlander, Skye and new-for-2018 York and the Lake District.”

The new additions include Mercedes-Benz Sprinters (supplied by Coach Traders of Whitburn, West Lothian), Mercedes-Benz Atego Indcars (supplied by Moseley Distributors of Airdrie) and a MAN Barbi Galileo supplied by BASE Coach Sales of Leyland, Lancashire.

Steve added: “The new investment is significant for us, not least because these coaches are fitted out to our own specifications and reflect our commitment to continually re-fleet and replace our coaches with the most environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient vehicles available.

“Our entire coach fleet is less than three years old and this is our blueprint in an industry where a company’s ‘green’ credentials are a huge consideration for customers. This is something we take great pride in, having been accredited with the Green Business Tourism Scheme Gold Award and EcoStars 5 Star rating.”
