Northern Ireland operator takes delivery of first examples of new Scania Caetano double-deck coaches
Northern Ireland operator Translink has unveiled the UK’s first double-decker Scania Caetano coaches. Destined for use on the operator’s premium Goldline services, the 12 vehicles in this order will operate services in the North West of the Province, primarily on Derry/Londonderry to Belfast service 212.
Based on Scania’s K410UB6x2*4LB underframe, the coaches have Euro 6 410hp Scania DC13 115 SCR-only engines driving through Scania GR875R gearboxes with fully-automated Opticruise selection and integral retarders.
The Caetano coachwork, called Invictus is 13.25m long and 4.05m high. 76 leather seats with 5V charging points (USB sockets) have generous legroom, Free WiFi, automatic climate control and CCTV have been specified and tinted windows are double-glazed ensuring better temperature control and delivering a quieter ride.
