Plans have been announced for the 2014 competition for the UK Coach Awards (UKCA), which will be formally launched in early September. The presentation ceremony will return to Manchester, taking place on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel, scene of the highly praised events in 2011 and 2012.
As previously reported, it has been decided not to repeat this year’s joint hosting of the event with UK Coach Rally at Alton Towers.
The award categories are to substantially revised, and it is planned to shift the emphasis very much to coach operators and their staff, removing categories for attractions and destinations which are already well covered by other schemes, the organisers have said.
UKCA Chairman Allan Edmondson commented: “We’re delighted to announce the plans for our sixth annual competition. Since April, we’ve had a lot of very positive feedback about this year’s scheme, and we’ve taken this into account in making our plans for 2014. I believe the outcome is both positive and exciting, and we are really looking forward to highlighting the importance of the contribution which individuals make to the continued success of the industry.”
“We’ll be announcing the categories in September, and we’ll be seeking nominations from operators and their customers throughout the autumn,” explained Allan.
“Judging will take place early in the New Year, with a shortlist announcement expected in late February.”
