Blackpool will host the 2016 Coach Rally, which moves away from Alton Towers but maintains ties with Merlin Group
At a meeting of over 20 enthusiastic operators and trade representatives at the 2015 UK Coach Rally, it was decided that the Rally must be improved and taken back to its seaside roots.
With support from the Merlin Group and Visit Blackpool, the event’s organisers have announced that the 2016 UK Coach Rally will be held in Blackpool on the promenade in front of Blackpool Tower from April 23-24, 2016.
The rally will also be taking over Madame Tussauds, with only rally attendees and trade members able to enter. Participants will also be offered a hotpot and drink at the Rovers Return.
More information about the Saturday dinner and dance will be announced in due course, though it has been confirmed that this will be held at the famous Tower Ballroom.
There will also be discounted tickets available to Blackpool attractions.
Anne Cousins from the UK Coach Rally told CBW: “We had a couple of venues suggested to us, and Blackpool had the most to offer.
“People used to enjoy going to Brighton because there was lots to do and operators could bring families or a coach full of passengers with them. There was much less to do in Peterborough or at Alton Towers (aside from the theme park itself).
“A lot of people wanted the rally to develop and Blackpool seemed most suitable.
“There will be discounted hotel accommodation available through the UK Coach Rally website.”
The rally will be held at the seafront near to the tower. It will be possible to observe some of the driving tests from the tower itself, CBW is told.
“More details will be disclosed nearer the time,” Anne added.
