Further to the news in issue 1521 that First Worcester is to curtail its historic route 144 between Worcester and Birmingham to Bromsgrove, Worcestershire County Council has confirmed that it has arranged for National Express West Midlands to operate a Monday to Saturday service every 70 minutes from Bromsgrove to Longbridge to allow bus users to connect to frequent bus services to Birmingham city centre. The service commenced on 3 May and will initially operate for a six-month period whilst a long term solution is found.
David Bradford, National Express West Midlands Managing Director, said: “Working in partnership with Worcestershire County Council, we are delighted to step in and serve Bromsgrove – a town that we have not served for many years and which we are delighted to be able to include again in our network.
“We are now working hard to mobilise the new services at short notice to ensure that local communities do not lose their vital bus connections. We hope that new and existing customers will take advantage of our new 144A bus link between Bromsgrove and Longbridge to ensure that it goes from strength to strength.”
