Pelican Bus and Coach, the UK and Ireland importer for Yutong vehicles, has revealed plans for its new showroom and coach preparation building.

The land for the site has already been purchased and planning permission is expected to be granted in April, ready for an immediate construction start.

Located close to existing Pelican facilities in Wakefield Europort, the new building will have workshop space for eight coaches and a showroom big enough for three coaches. A customer hospitality area, welfare facilities and external parking for 40 coaches also form part of the development.

Commenting on the new development, Pelican’s Managing Director Richard Crump said: “Our Yutong business has grown further and faster than we ever thought it would in just 18 months.

“This new building will give us much needed extra floor space and allow us to have the coach business completely separate from our other operations.

“It’s also a statement of our long term commitment to the Yutong brand and its growing presence in the UK.”
