[/wlm_nonmember] [wlm_ismember] A £300,000 appeal has been launched to buy a building to preserve priceless bus industry archive material. The call has come from the Bus Archive, which was formed three years ago from the merger of Omnibus Society and Kithead Trust collections. Manufacturer and operator archives, photographic collections, sound recordings and countless other items are stored in the best possible conditions.

Now The Bus Archive has managed to get new premises in Droitwich, Worcestershire, replacing two other buildings and increasing shelf space by 40%. This has been financed by bridging loans and donations, but £300,000 has to be raised to pay for and fit out the premises.
All donations are welcome, and anyone chipping in £500 will have their name added to a ‘donor board’ in the foyer of the building, with various benefits for people making larger donations. Among the archive’s ardent supporters is legendary bus livery designer Ray Stenning of Best Impressions. “I would urge anyone to support this appeal,” he said.

To donate, or find out more about the archive log on to busarchive.org.uk or cheques made payable to The Bus Archive can be sent to 100 Sandwell Street, London, WS1 3EB.
