Lothian Buses is discontinuing its Adult City Single tickets, which will no longer be valid from May 1, 2016.
From May, the paper tickets will no longer be accepted for travel and further sales of the tickets have already ceased. Child City Single tickets will continue to be sold.
Single fares will still be available to purchase in advance on a citysmart card or through the m-ticket app, and customers can also still pay for a single ticket when they board the bus. Customers with any unused City Single tickets have three options: use the tickets before May 1; transfer the tickets onto a citysmart card or to m-tickets on the app or return the unused tickets for a refund. The operator is refunding unused tickets until October 31, 2016.
Nigel Serafini, Head of Commercial and Business Development at Lothian Buses, said: Although customer usage of these tickets continues to decline, we do recognise and regret the inconvenience their withdrawal may cause.
“Passengers can buy prepaid tickets using their smartphone or a smartcard, and we would encourage them to visit one of our Travelshops for further help and advice.
“Adult customers can still purchase prepaid tickets for single journeys using the Transport for Edinburgh m-ticket app or the Citysmart smartcard. Passengers can also consider Ridacard for best value unlimited travel for regular travel.”
