TURKEY Otokar has won a tender to supply ESHOT, Izmir Metropolitran Municipality’s transport service with 100 air-conditioned articulated Kent buses. Delivery is expected to be comleted before the end of 2016 and the contract also covers maintenace and service support.
Otokar’s General Manager, Serdar Görgüç expressed his pleasure that ESHOT had chosen Otokar for Izmir’s public transport system. “Otokar’s articulated buses combine low operating costs with a high standard of comfort and durability, and will bring fresh energy to Izmir’s dynamic transport system,” he said. “Our 9m Vectio C bus, and our 12m Kent C bus are already serving the transport needs of Izmir’s population. It is a matter of pride for us that our Kent Flexible buses will also be serving the Izmir public, and that the number of our vehicles serving the city will be increasing every day.
“We have more than 50 years’ experience in public transport, and the knowledge that we have accumulated introducing more than 1,000 of our buses in metropolitan cities such as Istanbul will ensure that Izmir gets with the best possible service. We see a bright future for our new vehicles as they set out on the city streets.”
Otokar, a member of the Koç Group of companies, designs and manufactures commercial vehicles including buses, trucks and semi-trailers. It has over 2,000 employees at its 552,000 square meter plant in Arifiye, Sakarya, Turkey.
