Adrian Wickens, one of the ‘most influential figures in UK bus and coach engineering’ – and a highly respected former employee of Volvo Group, has died.
Volvo Bus said in a statement: “Everyone at Volvo Bus and the wider Volvo family is shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Adrian Wickens.
“Adrian, who worked for Volvo Bus for 42 years, died suddenly this week.
“Adrian was a much liked and highly respected figure within the Volvo Bus organisation as well as throughout the bus industry in the UK and around the world.
“He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and worked with him.
“The company would like to express its heartfelt condolences to Adrian’s wife Cathy, his children and all his family and friends at this very sad and difficult time.”
Adrian retired from his role at Volvo at September 2015’s Coach & Bus Live show, following a career spanning over four decades in the industry.
Reflecting on his career at Volvo Bus, Adrian said at the time: “I’ve seen many remarkable changes in the coach and bus industry.
“It’s also been a privilege to be part of the expansion of Volvo Bus as a true global company with its growth into Eastern Europe, China and the Far East, India and North America.
“Above all, I met some wonderful people – as this truly is a people industry.”
