Westgate-on-Sea-based Carol Peters Travel ceased trading on 16 January, the operation included private hire, coach holidays and day trips, with authorisation to operate 13 vehicles in total.
Director Peter Howe, who has run the business with wife Carol for 24 years, issued the following statement on 19 January apologising to customers following the closure of the coach business:
“Unfortunately at 1205hrs on Thursday 16 January, due to various financial problems we were forced to close Carol Peters Travel.
“The website will be dealt with by an outside source and will be closed down ASAP.
“We would like to apologise to all our customers for any inconvenience this has caused anyone.
“We are personally devastated by the closure but would like to thank our staff and customers for their support over the last 24 years.”
The Isle of Thanet News reported that: “Coaches at the Manston depot have been repossessed despite Mr Howe’s attempts at negotiations to keep the business running. Staff were informed of the closure on Friday morning.”
It is not yet clear how refunds will be obtained but Mr Howe, 73, said he will do all he can to make sure customers are reimbursed.
