Alpine Travel of North Wales has been awarded the contract for the new Conwy Valley Fflecsi bus service recently launched in partnership with Transport for Wales and Conwy Borough Council.
Fflecsi offers a fixed start and end point but can adjust its route to pick up and drop off passengers anywhere within the designated Fflecsi zone. Passengers book a journey in advance using its app, the fflecsi website or by telephone and are given a pick-up point near their location and an arrival time for the bus.
The booking system managed by County Council means that fflecsi bus passengers are guaranteed a seat, which helps with physical distancing measures and ensures the safety of customers and colleagues, which TfW says is a priority.
The service is replacing services 42, 68 and 70 around the valley, and the 19 between Llanrwst and Cwm Penmachno.
Cllr Greg Robbins, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transportation at Conwy County Borough Council said: “We’re delighted to be working with Transport for Wales on the new Fflecsi service operating in Conwy Valley.
The buses are brand new and the service will allow residents to get out and about, including to the shops or the doctor, in a more convenient way.”
Chris Owens, Alpine Travel Managing Director said: “We are delighted to have secured this contract which will transform public transport in the rural areas of the Conwy Valley. We are pleased to work with the Council and Transport for Wales on this scheme and look forward to once again supporting the community.”
