A Worcestershire-based coach company has improved its workshop facilities with the purchase of mobile column lifts from experts in workshop equipment, Totalkare. Elgar Coaches provides holiday and excursion travel services across the UK, operating and maintaining a fleet of vehicles ranging from midi to full size 55-seat executive coaches. The operator is a long-term user of Totalkare vehicle lifting equipment, including its SVL and RG models which are still in use by the firm and were first manufactured by Totalkare in 1980.
The operator said that upgrading to Totalkare’s T8AC lifting system will add greater flexibility to its in-house maintenance capabilities thanks to adjustable forks that can easily accommodate a variety of wheel diameters and the ability to connect the lifts in configurations of 4 or 6 to cater for twin- or tri-axle coaches. The new lifts also offer a greater lifting capacity of 7,500kg per column.
The decision to invest in new lifts follows Elgar Coaches’ move to new depot premises which it said will provide more space for in-house facilities which will help to reduce travel and waiting time and improve efficiency, reducing its carbon footprint whilst saving time and cost.
Nick Portlock, a partner in Elgar Coaches said: “We are excited about the new addition to our workshop. We are sure the T8AC mobile column lifts will save us time and the costs associated with frequently servicing a mixed fleet of passenger vehicles, which in turn will enable us to have as many of our vehicles on the road as possible. We have a long-established relationship with Totalkare and are pleased with the products and quality of service support.”
Area Sales Manager for Totalkare George Georgiou said “It is important to us that our customers receive a brilliant service at every stage, and it is continuing relationships such as these that demonstrates the quality of what we do at Totalkare and the value of our mobile column lifts to heavy duty vehicle workshops.”
