French energy and services specialist Equans has won a new contract with the City of Brampton in Canada to improve the user experience on its transport network and deploy its computer-aided dispatch and AVL technology across the city’s bus system along with a real-time passenger information (RTPI) system. The company’s Ineo Systrans division will supply the technology to operator Brampton Transit as part of a move to modernise its bus fleet with new digital technology. Said to be one of the fastest-growing large cities in Canada, home to 700,000 people and over 90,000 businesses, Brampton is also pushing ahead with plans to electrify its 475-bus operation, which carried over 31 million passengers in 2022 on its 70 routes.
Equans says the contract will deliver a full replacement of Brampton Transit’s current system for its fixed-route services, including the central system, on-board components, communications, and passenger information systems with the latest Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) technologies. The firm will supply, install, and commission its Navineo computer-aided dispatch and automatic vehicle location (CAD/AVL) solution, RTPI systems and interface to existing passenger counters, along with its Smart Yard Management module.
Service Delivery Supervisors will also be able to use the new systems to make real-time service adjustments, and provide a seamless real-time experience across all customer channels, including mobile phones, the operator’s website, automated next stop announcements and variable message signs on board vehicles.
“Ineo Systrans Inc. is pleased to contribute to improving mobility for all riders in Brampton. By deploying innovative solutions, our teams are helping to make smart and sustainable mobility a reality. This reflects Equans’ daily commitment to meeting the challenges of the energy, industrial and digital transitions. We would like to thank the City of Brampton for its trust and are fully mobilized to make their public transit service even more attractive,” said Stephan Goguet, COO of Ineo Systrans.
