First Kernow purchases Webber Coaches assets

First Kernow has announced the purchase of various assets and contracts from Bodmin, Cornwall-based Webbers Coaches.

The transaction, which was completed on January 5, includes the lease of the existing depot in Bodmin, a number of school contracts operated on behalf of Cornwall Council, four of the vehicles used by the business and the transfer by TUPE of seven employees.

Alex Carter, Managing Director for First South West, said: “This transaction represents an excellent opportunity to strengthen and grow our business in the South West.

“Our new colleagues are already fitting in well to our First Kernow operation.”

Webber Coaches, O-licence PH0006598, has 25 vehicles and two operating centres. Its main centre on Old Callywith Road in Bodmin, is home to 19 vehicles, while six are houses at a separate premises in Camelford. The company’s operator and transport manager is Keith Webber.

CBW understands that Keith Webber is retiring, and the remainder of the company’s fleet is currently up for sale.
