The 31-seater VDL Futura2 is operated by Skills of Nottingham on behalf of Leger

Leger Holidays launched its new premium Luxuria product on Tuesday at Euro Bus Expo. The impressive 31-seater, 14-metre-long tri-axle VDL Futura 2 is to be operated on behalf of the Rotherham-based tour operator by Skills of Nottingham.

Luxuria features deluxe armchair-style seating with retractable calf rests. All seats have their own, fully-interactive touch-screen Funtoro TV, offering a wide choice of films, programmes and music, enabling passengers to control what they want to watch and when.

Karl Moseley of Moseley PCV said: “This is one of the finest Futura2s VDL has ever built. With its leather-clad 2+1 seating, and full onboard on-demand entertainment system, it’s one of the finest vehicles Moseley has ever supplied.”

Paul McTiernan, Operations Director, said: “It’s been three years in the making. Along with VDL and Nigel Skill, a lot of thought has gone into the specification and pricing structure.

“It will be used on continental tours to destinations as far away as Greece and Sicily – as well as closer to home in the Rhine Valley.

“It’s got a flat floor, so tracking can go in for its second life. Subject to sales, we are looking to get three more of these coaches next year and up to five the year after.”

Paul added: “From our point of view, it’s a development of our popular Silver Service standard, which of course, evolved from our ‘standard’ specification.

“I would be looking at £10 per seat per day on top of Silver Service – and that’s already got a £10 per seat per day premium. If you go back to 2003, we had three Silver Service coaches – and look where we are now.”

Nigel Skill from Skills told CBW: “We’ve enjoyed a long-term relationship with Leger. Paul asked if we would be interested in running this coach and being aware of how well they know their customers, we are confident it will evolve.

“VDL staff were absolutely superb to deal with. They’ve taken everything on board and incorporated all we asked for. We’re running this coach with dedicated crews. It raises the bar. For drivers, it’s career progression – which I believe is important.”
