The latest figures from National Express show that 2018 broke records over the Christmas period.
Boxing Day was the busiest day in National Express’s history with over 74,000 passenger journeys.
An extra 76,000 seats were added onto services during the festive period, 22,000 more than the previous year.
Nearly 750,000 journeys were taken across the
UK-wide network during the festive period.
Chris Hardy, Managing Director for National Express Coach, said: “With families more spread out than ever before and an increasing number of people working over the Christmas period, demand for coach travel at this time keeps getting stronger.
“Nearly 750,000 journeys were taken across our UK wide network during the festive season.
That represents a 15% increase on 2017 and tells the story that more and more people need to move across the country for both personal and professional reasons.”
Chris Hardy continued: “We’re well known for providing great value travel all year round and we’re conscious that this is especially important to our customers at Christmas.
“But we’re also being chosen because we offer connectivity to over 750 towns and cities across the UK and the reliability and convenience that UK travellers are missing elsewhere.”
