Three key points made by CPT in its response to the DfT consultation on changes to the O-licensing system have been taken on board by the government.

The CPT said as a result, the following has been achieved:

  • There will be a wider range of methods for proving financial standing;
  • It will be easier to demonstrate professional competence by ‘Grandfather Rights’; and
  • It will not be necessary for every licence-holding entity to own at least one vehicle all the time.

Further important details will be contained in guidance from the Senior Traffic Commissioner. When ready, it will be possible to see if further action is needed.
