Jeff Counsell, Managing Director of Trent Barton, speaks to James Day about the acclaimed operator’s success with rapid, low stop services and uncompromisingly high-specification buses

 

Derby City Centre is an attractive place. Between the modern bus station and Trent Barton’s depot, a column of greenery follows the River Derwent through the city, while wide streets in the shopping areas naturally thin the crowds and stop tall buildings from blocking out all of the light. This is one of two cities which Trent Barton operates in, and the location I chose to meet with its Managing Director, Jeff Counsell.

The operator’s bright and clean buses only added to the pleasant environment in the city centre. Its new Enviro200 MMCs look fantastic in the company’s well-known individual route branding, and I imagine they do a very good job of catching the eye of non-bus users, who must be curious to find out what they are like to travel on.
