The annual Peterborough Bus Rally will be held in 2016 on Sunday, July 10. The venue will again be Sacrewell. Dozens of vintage and modern buses and coaches will be on display, along with a selection of commercial vehicles. The rally will be open from 1000-1600hrs.
A selection of vintage buses will also provide a link between the rally site and the nearby Nene Valley Railway. Buses will operate every 20 minutes between 1045-1545hrs and will also serve the historic Wansford Village.
The Rally site is situated on the A47, just off the main A1 junction. Due to the rally, parking at Sacrewell is extremely limited and parking charges will apply. Visitors are urged to take advantage of the free bus services provided.
Stagecoach East (Peterborough and Cambridge) and Stagecoach East Midlands (Lincoln) are supporting the 2016 event and will be operating a free shuttle service between Peterborough’s Queensgate Bus Station and Sacrewell with some journeys also operating via Castor Village. Buses will run regularly from Queensgate between 0950-1520hrs with return journeys from Sacrewell operating regularly between 1050-1600hrs.
Event Organiser, Chris Dobbing, said: “The Peterborough Bus Rally is always popular and appeals to enthusiasts and families with the opportunity to travel on vintage vehicles evoking memories of the bus and coach travel of past eras. Everyone is welcome and we are always keen to welcome vehicles and their owners to what is a relaxed and enjoyable day out.
“We are particularly grateful to Stagecoach for sponsoring the event by operating the free bus services that will link Queensgate Bus Station with the Rally site at Sacrewell Farm. They will be using fully accessible buses on these services. Stagecoach has also agreed to operate the service with its charity-branded buses. Stagecoach East will provide two buses in Cancer Research UK livery and Stagecoach East Midlands will provide its bus in the poppy livery which they used to raise funds for the Lincoln Poppy Appeal. Following the event the Rally organisers will make a donation to both Cancer Research UK and the Lincoln Poppy Appeal”.
