Purpose-built bus and coach registrations fell 57.6% in August resulting in a year-to-date decrease of 6.3%, said the SMMT.

Including conversions, the overall bus and coach market was down 271 units, but year-to-date remains stable with a 0.3% fall. Registrations over the past 12 months remain strong. Purpose-built is up 11.8%, 8.1% overall.

“Following a particularly strong August last year, this month saw a drop in bus and coach registrations, down 271 units, however year-to-date figures remain stable with a small decrease of 0.3%” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive. “Rolling year figures for the market are positive as converted buses lead the way with good performance.”
