Reading Buses has announced the creation of a new, direct link from the town of Bracknell to Heathrow airport.
From May 8, the Green Line 703 will depart hourly from Bracknell, taking in LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, Windsor, Slough and Langley before arriving at Terminal 5.
The addition of the 703 route follows a number of wider Green Line changes made by the operator, including the introduction of new timetables on route 702 – as well as altering the route to improve its reliability.
After the May 7 Bank Holiday, the 702 will no longer run from Bracknell, instead operating between Windsor and London Victoria – the 703 will take over Bracknell to Langley duties.
The areas of North Ascot and Winkfield will be served by the 703 every two hours, ‘better reflecting the usage of the service’ according to the firm; meanwhile, the three early morning and evening commuter journeys on 702 will continue to start in Reading and run through Bracknell.
Concessionary pass holders will also be able to take advantage of a 0930hrs journey from Bracknell to London Victoria.
Working together, the Green Line 702 and 703 will offer a daily, half-hourly service between Langley, Slough, Windsor, and the LEGOLAND Windsor resort; customers can switch there to either 702 for Central London or 703 for Heathrow.
Martijn Gilbert, CEO of Reading Buses, said the company had spent the last four months looking at how they could improve the Green Line service – following FirstGroup’s withdrawal from the area: “We have been looking at how customers use the route and how this information can help shape the service in the future,” he said.
“We now have some good data from customer comments and driver feedback so that we can start making our first significant changes to help the long term future of the route.”
