Stagecoach in Oxfordshire has launched a mobile ticketing service, allowing passengers to instantly buy and download tickets to their smartphones.

The new mobile method to pay for bus travel also provides passengers with an additional payment option, as they will be able to use their PayPal account, alongside debit and credit cards.

Stagecoach’s mobile app combines mobile ticketing and journey planning, using the smartphone’s GPS system to help passengers identify their nearest bus stop and the most suitable bus service, as well as journey length details and available fare options. Passengers can also access live running times to check the status of their route.

Karen Coventry, Business Development Manager of Stagecoach in Oxfordshire, said: “Many of our customers are very savvy when it comes to using their smartphones to pay for bus travel. Since launching contactless payment in 2016 the number of passengers who are using Apple Pay and Android Pay is increasing every day.

“That’s why we thought it was crucial to take our smartphone app to the next level by launching mobile ticketing. We know time is precious for everyone, so we hope the new payment method will provide even more convenience for our regular users.”
