Uno Buses, along with the University of Northampton, has invested £1.5m in eight ADL Enviro400 MMC Euro 6 buses which will go into service on October 19.

Each bus is specified with white Hanover destination blinds, free super-fast WiFi, USB charging points and LED lighting.

The new service, which is branded as Violet, takes over from the former number 19 route and will serve both University campuses, Kingsthorpe, the Northampton’s railway station and Sixfields.

Jim Thorpe, Managing Director of Uno Buses, said: “We’ve spent a lot of time designing the very best interiors for our customers. They’re light and airy and should really enhance the overall journey experience.

“We’ve made sure we’ve involved employees from across the business within our Violet delivery team; leading a really strong focus on making sure we offer the best customer service and product. As a team we’re proud to serve the University and the town of Northampton, so all the interiors commemorate the town’s roots in shoemaking.

“It’s going to be great seeing them go in to service.”

Nick Petford, Vice Chancellor of the University of Northampton, commented: “We are delighted to invest in the new fleet of Uno buses.”
