The Stonehaven Land Train is returning this summer, but PCV drivers are needed. STONEHAVEN TOWN PARTNERSHIP

What is believed to be Scotland’s only working land train will be back in action in the Aberdeenshire town of Stonehaven this summer, offering the opportunity for a ride behind the cheery blue and white engine around its picturesque seaside streets. Nicknamed the Stoney Express, the train is owned by the Stonehaven Town Partnership (STP).

Previously kept at a bus depot in the town’s Spurryhillock industrial estate, the train has been housed in Brechin since it had to move out of its yard at Spurryhillock three years ago. Now, thanks to the efforts of local councillor Alan Turner and the generosity of local businessman Brian Davies, who has offered space at his Kincardineshire Manufacturing Services premises, the Stoney Express will be back on the road in Stonehaven this July.
