Saturday, January 10, 2015 was the last day of Black Velvet Travel operation in Southern Hampshire.

The operator’s owners decided to dispose of the assets of the company, which have been purchased by Xelabus Limited of Eastleigh.

The purchase does not include the Black Velvet Travel Ltd business, but does allow the routes, staff and premises at Chalcroft Business Park to be acquired and Xelabus took these over from start of operation on Monday, January 12, 2015.

Philip Blair, Managing Director of Xelabus, said: “We are delighted to be able to absorb the routes which operate under contract to Southampton City Council into our network.

“The premises at Chalcroft also provide a second depot for operation of our services in the eastern part of the network.

“We will be monitoring the services and how we can expand the network further over the coming months but we will for certain offer new marketing initiatives for our customers as well as look to improve quality of service and vehicles.”
