Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire has rolled the first ‘next-generation’ brand of luxury buses, Stagecoach gold, across Merseyside and Lancashire following a £7.5m investment.

Stagecoach has added 18 brand new Enviro300 buses to its Merseyside fleet and 24 Enviro400 buses to its Preston depot. The new batches of buses are the first Stagecoach gold vehicles in each county.

The vehicles feature spacious legroom, hand stitched Italian-designed leather seats and CCTV as standard. The buses will also offer free WiFi and USB charging ports meaning passengers will be able to stay connected while on the move. The fleet will run on bio diesel.

Managing Director for Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire, Elisabeth Tasker, said: “This is an exciting time for the business – we’re delighted to be introducing the first Stagecoach gold buses to Merseyside and South Lancashire.

“Our new fleet of gold standard buses are top of the range and will deliver a new level of quality for passengers.

“We continue to significantly invest in our fleet to improve our service and passenger experience, without passing on any additional cost to our customers.  These ‘next generation’ buses will enhance connectivity, comfort and sustainability for passengers– signifying our solid commitment to delivering an unbeatable, eco-friendly travel experience.”

Enviro300 Stagecoach Gold buses will operate on the 1 and 2 service which runs between Liverpool, Wirral and Chester. The route takes in popular tourist attractions including Chester Zoo, Blue Planet Aquarium and Cheshire Oaks. In Lancashire, the Enviro400 Stagecoach Gold buses will operate on the 125 service between Preston and Bolton via Chorley. Tickets on Gold routes will cost the same as on normal Stagecoach buses and are available online or on the bus.
