Dorset-based bus and coach operator Damory Coaches has moved to new premises at Pimperne following a £500,000 refit and refurbishment. The state-of-the-art equipment and new additional inspection pit next to extended existing pits will be made available to heavy commercial vehicle operators when not used for VOSA-compliant inspections on the 70-strong bus fleet based at the facility.

Steve Hamilton, Engineering Director for Damory, said that the investment, which also includes a new, eco-friendly bus and chassis wash facility, along with the latest energy efficient lighting and heating systems, will enable the 18-strong engineering team to not only ensure that high standards of maintenance are sustained for their own fleet, but also for lorries and trucks owned by regional haulage companies.

At the official opening, Andrew Wickham, Managing Director for the Go Ahead Group-owned bus and coach companies in the South, said the practice of making engineering facilities available has been proved a success with other bus operators including its sister company Plymouth Citybus.

“We are delighted to invest and remain fully committed to offering a safe, reliable transport network with the backing of a very dedicated team of drivers, engineers and support personnel,” he added.
