Stagecoach Wigan has announced its official support of Wigan Youth Zone by providing the centre with a £10,000 cheque.

The ceremony was held at what is claimed to be England’s largest youth club, which has proved a popular facility for young people in the area, with Stagecoach Wigan offering half price bus fares for members of the Youth Zone travelling to and from the centre who are aged between 16 and 19 years old.

John Harker, Director of the Wigan Youth Zone, said: “We’re extremely pleased that Stagecoach Wigan has chosen to support us and we’ll be using the generous donation to improve our facilities and services for young people in the area.

“Many of our members travel to the Youth Zone on Stagecoach buses and this partnership will encourage more young people to visit us and make use of the activities on offer.”

Also in attendance was local Councillor and Vice Chairman of the Transport for Greater Manchester Committee, Mark Aldred, who commented: “It’s great to see two local businesses working together to strengthen the community and improve facilities for young people in the area.”
