Strong bus market leaves coaches trailing in July

Bus and coach registrations rose 20.3% in July, taking 2014-to-date volumes up 5.4% to 7,943 units. July growth was driven by 69.8% rise for purpose-built buses while coaches dipped 27.4% in the month. Converted bus registrations were stable in the month, but volumes are still up 12% in 2014-to-date.

“July proved a good month for the bus and coach market, with registrations posting a 20.3% growth,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive. “The overall picture for buses and coaches remains positive, with the past 12 months showing14.5% growth.”
